UK Expat VPN Review

With the ForeignMoneySaver team being originally from the UK, we know how much you can miss home comforts such as the BBC, ITV, Channel4 etc. Whether it be Corrie, Eastenders, David Attenborough, Match of the Day or live sports with British commentary!

The most common approach to stream these shows has been to use a VPN to access things like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub etc. Unfortunately, though almost all of the VPNs we have used for this purpose have not consistently worked and often are unable to show our much needed UK shows! To be fair, this is not the selling point of the big VPN providers as they mainly focus on security rather than making sure their servers can always ensure you have access to BBC iPlyer etc.

Excellent word of mouth UK Expat VPN reviews – we put the service to the test!

The team at ForeignMoneySaver had heard great things about UK Expat VPN which is why we decided to try it out for a whole month before we give you the UK Expat VPN review.

What we heard from word of mouth was that this VPN was truly unique as it is the only provider that guarantees you access to UK TV. The company states that they can do this because they have a dedicated team that monitors their servers 24/7 to ensure up time to key UK TV streaming services (iPlayer etc).

UK Expat VPN is easy to use and install

We then set out to begin our test of the service. To start, we installed it on our TV (via an Amazon Firestick) and also on our tablet and phone. The process was extremely simple and UK Expat VPN is quite generous in giving you a maximum of a potential 5 simultaneous connections. After installing, it was then simply a case of going to the BBC iPlayer website (or the app in the case of the TV) to use the streaming service. It (and other services like ITV Hub) worked flawlessly not only for the first day, but the entire month of our testing period.

Competitive pricing

At the time of writing this review, UK Expat VPN had 3 pricing structures. A monthly plan (£7.99), quarterly (the equivalent of £5.99 a month) or an annual subscription which provides the best value at £4.99 a month equivalent (i.e. £59.88 in one payment). All plans come with at least a three-day trial and with a money back guarantee so you can try the service with no risk at all. The price of these plans are approximately the same price you will find with other VPN providers but without the guaranteed access to UK content.

Other factors to note about the service

In addition to using the service for watching UK TV abroad, it’s important to note some of the other benefits the VPN provides. Principally, it also fully encrypts your internet connection which will provide your protection from hackers. This threat is even higher when using public wifi and everyone should use a VPN when at a coffee shop, restaurant, public place etc where wifi is available.

Conclusion

After a month of uninterrupted access to BBC iPlayer, ITV, Channel 4 etc the conclusion of this UK Expat VPN review is relatively straightforward – hands down an easy 5/5. What really set the service apart was it’s consistent access to key UK TV where the many other VPNs have simply failed on many occasion.
